Oct 31, 2013 Sc2 will boot and prompt you to play offline. Once you are in, plug your internet back in and you can do whatever while offline. You may get a connecting to server message but just exit that to get. It is an automated legit launcher tool that makes it possible for you to play the SC2 Retail offline, without cd-keys etc, load skirmish battles, and watch replays. It doesn't mess with the original SC2 game and will allow you to play WAN (if you have bought the game).

My internet connection is occasionally extremely poor thanks to my ISP. For these occasions I want to play offline custom games against AI. I have read in a number of places that this is possible (for example: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/12113661460 ), and that to do so you simply have to right-click the desired map in the custom games screen.
So I've jumped through all the hoops to start SC2 in offline mode, but nothing happens when I right-click maps in custom games screen, and the 'Create game' button is greyed out. Am I missing something here? ![]()
Hey ribrobatron,
Here's a step-by-step solution that works for me. 1. Login to the game and go to Custom Games (online mode). 2. From Browse Maps or Bookmarked Maps, select the map you wish to play offline. 3. Click on the 'gear' on the right, then select 'Create Offline Game' from the popup menu. 4. After the map has been downloaded, you'll enter the lobby, select Quit. 5. Exit the game. 6. Go offline by unplugging your ethernet cable or disabling the network adapter in your Device Manager. 7. Start the Battle.net desktop app and press Play. 8. A message dialog appears 'Connecting to streaming server..', click on 'Cancel'. 9. In the 'Can't connect to Battle.net' message dialog, click on 'Play Offline'. 10. A 'You are now in offline mode' message dialog pops up, click on 'Enter'. It also shows you when you were last online. Remember that you must have logged in to StarCraft II within the last 30 days to use offline mode. 11. Go to Custom Games. 12. From the maps list, select the map you downloaded earlier in online mode. The 'Create Game' button should enable itself. Note: If you select the downloaded map first, click on another map and then click on the downloaded map again, the 'Create Game' button may not enable itself anymore unless you restart the game. This is a bug, so if the 'Create Game' button is suddenly disabled, restarting the game should fix that. Hope this helps!
Hey there,
I tried to apply this. However when Im in the lobby (in offline mode), i cant start the game. the buttons are clickable, but it wont start.

Following Wings of Liberty patch 2.0.4, players are now presented with more options for playing against the AI than ever before, but we’ve noticed some confusion surrounding the availability to create offline games versus the AI. The ability to create offline games has not been removed. To play a custom game locally against AI opponents, go to the Custom Game screen, right click on any map you want in the map list and select “Create Offline Game”. This will create a local lobby and allow you to select AI opponents of various skill levels as you could previously. In fact, this feature is more powerful than ever. You can now use any map on Battle.net to create an offline game, sort and search maps, and take advantage of the new AI options introduced in the patch.
As was the case in previous versions of the game, certain restrictions apply for games created offline. Most notably, you cannot invite any other players to join the game, and you cannot earn achievements while playing offline. We hope you enjoy the improvements to AI in patch 2.0.4 and wish you the best of luck against the AI!
That is awesome!
Oh hey, I didn't know that. That's fantastic. If my roommate is downloading something, I can still get my StarCraft fix!
Thanks for this thread, Aldrexus!
Does anyone have problem to log on to battlenet since the new patch released?
The game crashed once trying to log on.
I believe there is a bug with AI allies. This appears to be a bug. Neither in custom or arcade melees are you able to select resource sharing panel or toggle it with hot key with an ai ally.
Yeah i was annoyed at first until finding that.
I still feel like i lost a lot of maps though since custom maps are just not same selection? Maybe I'm just a sc2 noob. I don't like all the extra steps to create a vs ai came with a pre set difficulty though.
Does anyone have an intense amount of lag in online play or is it just me? and If so how did you solve it?
This still isnt good enough. I like pre-2.04 where I DID NOT HAVE TO LOGIN to play. I like my guest accounts, i like being able to play without having to go through another server, i like being able to mess around without having to let people know i was playing.
What we need is the 'create offline games against people on the same LAN network'
Does anyone have an intense amount of lag in online play or is it just me? and If so how did you solve it? Finish the background download and your lag subsides.
Since downloading the update last night, I can't play! After waiting to connect to the streaming server for a minute or two, I am getting a message saying 'Unable to download game from Blizzard servers. To play the game offline 100% of the game needs to be downloaded..'
Please fix this issue.

Actually, it is untrue that you cannot earn achievements while playing offline. I'm 100% sure you can. I've tested it before and after the patch. For example I've earned the Fast Expand achievement, just 5 minutes ago on this account in an offline game as explained in this thread. You can earn achievements when playing in offline games. Try it yourself. Clearly, B.net still tracks your offline games to reward achievements. Therefore, the option to make an offline game is redundant and should be removed. All games with 1 human player should automatically be offline, and all games with more than 1 player can only be online. There is no reason why there needs to be an option, because it should always, in every case, be automatic.
But does this mean there is no 'Guest Mode' anymore?
